Modernizing and demystifying the mystic
Dictionary.com defines a mystic as — “noun. a person who claims to attain, or believes in the possibility of attaining, insight into mysteries transcending ordinary human knowledge, as by direct communication with the divine or immediate intuition in a state of spiritual ecstasy. a person initiated into religious mysteries.”
Oxford Languages defines a mystic as — “noun. a person who seeks by contemplation and self-surrender to obtain unity with or absorption into the Deity or the absolute, or who believes in the spiritual apprehension of truths that are beyond the intellect.”
Just because mystics tend to be “mysterious" by nature, doesn’t mean their formal definition has to be.
Personally, I define a mystic as, someone (any race, sex, gender, ethnicity, etc) who seeks spiritual truth(s) and dabbles in the mystery arts, whether that be through attending mystery schools, traveling to earth’s ends, or channeling it directly from the divine. But that ultimately, more often than not, their findings go beyond what one can learn in any ordinary classroom, or from any classic book. As they innately know that these classes, courses, programs, schools, universities and books are still a finite and limited source of information. That there are ways far beyond these previously exemplified that we can learn from. The information they come into contact with is infinite and limitless in terms of them being so in tune with the collective consciousness and the divine source itself. You may often hear me say, “go straight to the source” and this is what I mean. The purity and clarity of the truths that come from tapping into and communicating with this source of energy is unmatched.
Below I linked two articles that dive deeper into the concept if you care to learn more.
